The IMAs Are Hard At Work:

Artists, managers or labels looking for cash & gear prize packages should look for another program – the IMAs is all about delivering major results for indie releases – yearlong print, radio, online & broadcast promotions plus distribution & performance opportunities.

The Independent Music Awards helps indie artists & releases overcome mainstream obstacles via strategic alliances that put winners & finalists in front of millions of music fans & industry decision makers. Here’ some of this year’s results:

Last month we reported that the IMA Winners CD, “Now Hear This, Vol. 2008” debuted on eMusic’s Power Charts and quickly landed in the #1 spot on the Power Chart topping the Rolling Stones early London/Decca catalogue, Aphex Twin, Spoon and the M. Ward/Zooey Deschanel collaboration She & Him.

Now nearly 11 weeks later, the Winners CD compilation remains on the charts, ranking as this week’s 5th most downloaded album. In addition to the IMA’s promotional efforts on behalf of artists, music fans are spreading the word about IMA artists:

It's a bit of a triumph that eMusic chose to present this collection, because somebody needs to hear these bands and performers. They're all great. So, what's wrong with modern radio? Why do they always pass this stuff up?

Can't beat it GoLsuGo
I think there are some great artist on here that i have never heard of that need to be heard from everybody.

An Eclectic Mix of Music! CreditonJules
There are some great tracks on this album. Something for just about everyone's taste in music. The Willow's Lullaby is lovely!

Lots Of Good Stuff - Really amiam from Los Angeles, CA
Often I avoid and dread these kinds of compilations - sometimes it's too much work to wade through them for zero reward, but this is full of surprises! Lots of good tracks. I was rating in iTunes as I listened, and gave a lot of 4s [hightest rating!]. Check it out - some great surprises.

This week, the IMA Winner’s CD has been added to the Pure Volume site garnering even more exposure and fans for IMA Winners.

And, this summer, music consumers eager to discover and purchase choice new music will find the Winners of the 7th annual IMAs, featured on listening stations and in retail bins of some of the most influential music retailers nationwide. The Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) will showcase the “Now Hear This” IMA Winners CD on listening stations and the artists’ own releases will be available for sale and marked as IMA Winners in all CIMS member stores’ bins.
