The
Dark Side of
MySpace
Can MySpace remain true
to its indie roots now that media mogul Rupert Murdoch
has become the landlord? For many, Murdoch and his mega
conglomerate News Corp is the very definition of an evil
corporate empire. Will the force still be with MySpace?

Let's Be Friends
Inspired by our
MySpace coverage in the AtlasPlugged newsletter, we
finally moved the "Create A MySpace page" up to the top
of our to- do-list. Last week, we launched MySpace pages
for the Independent Music Awards (IMAs) and our
best-selling print directory, The Musician's Atlas & the
interactive Atlas Online.
Much to our immediate delight, these new MySpace pages
are already serving as global meeting space for indie
artists, indie record labels, talent buyers,
programmers, promoters, producers, graphic artists,
music fans, etc.
Both pages are gaining new friends, testimonials and
endorsements daily from both new and established
artists, labels and - well, just go check it out for
yourselves and add your name to a long list of indie
music supporters.
We
invite you to be our friend and make new friends at:
www.MySpace.com/TheIndependentMusicAwards and
www.MySpace.com/MusiciansAtlas.
We look forward to meeting you at both these spots and
keeping you posted on new developments that will help
you to make, market and sell your music more
successfully. |

IMA
Winners CD Climbs the Charts
Just 3 weeks out
and the 2006 IMA Winners CD is steadily moving up the
charts. As of today, a total of 96 stations have picked
up the album - over a third of them are reporting some
active levels of airplay.
Week One we were given
official CMJ adds to KSUB, KWWC, Lasell College Radio,
WGRE, WXIN and KRTU (a huge core in San Antonio, TX!) We
also debuted at two stations: WIUV in Castleton, VT at
#19 and WVYC in York, PA at #17.
By Week Two, we were
getting great support from really solid stations and
were in Medium rotation at WVRU, WGRE, WMSC, WXIN and
Lasell College radio! We also got some chart love from
KJCC in San Jose at #17 and WIUV where we came in at
#19.
This week we picked up another
charter with our debut at the #21 spot at KWWC in
Castleton, VT! We're still seeing a lot of love from
KJCC where we came in at #17 for the second week in a
row. We're also holding strong at the #19 spot at WIVU.
New support this week comes from WCVH, WTSC, WIXQ, KWSB,
WBGU and many other stations who have put the album out
for play. IMA Winners
can track all their display activity via their IMA
MediaGuide accounts. |
