The IMAs represent the diversity of today’s vibrant indie scene and supports artists with previous major label releases as well as artists that have only self-released or appeared on indie labels.

BEHIND THE MUSIC:

---Sexton began his career as a street performer in Harvard Square in Cambridge. He sold 20,000 copies of his 1992 demo, In the Journey, out of his guitar case.

---His strong live performances won him a Boston Music Award for "Best New Artist" and led to his being named "Artist of the Year" by the National Academy of Songwriters in 1994.

---In 1996, he celebrated his first major label (Atlantic) release. Following his 2002 departure from Atlantic, he formed his own independent label, Kitchen Table Records.

--- Acoustic Guitar magazine says: "Most impressive is the fact that he’s usually singing over the entire circus act. It isn’t just lyrics, either. If you didn’t know better, you’d swear there was a lead guitarist and string section onstage occasionally. Nope, it’s just Sexton and his primary instrument – his voice – creating a whole new sound that’s both human and electric."
