This year, over 37,000 votes from around the globe were cast in this year’s “people’s choice” component of the IMAs for all music, video, art & swag categories. Now the votes are in, tabulated and the winners of the IMA Vox Populi popular vote are... READ MORE...

IMA Artists Are Getting Seen & Heard
Johnny Dowd
(Alt. Country Album Winner, 7th Annual IMAs)
Johnny's newest effort, A Drunkard’s Masterpiece, is slated for a May 20th release on Bongo Beat Records. The album is already awash in 4-star reviews due to its release in Europe earlier this year. Masterpiece was recorded live to an 8-track tape in just three days and welds together everything from Metal to Jazz and Industrial Funk. The result is a creative crash of Americana, Beatnik Rock, Poetry, Rap, Retro Pop and Country Noir. There’s no doubt that Dowd is back in action with a signature sound that defies categorization. Be on the lookout for his tour that will hit towns across North America in the early part of this summer.
Details at www.bongobeat.com and www.johnnydowd.com.
Joan As Police Woman
(Pop/Rock Album Winner, 7th Annual IMAs)
Joan As Police Woman is gearing up for the June 9th release of her much-anticipated second album, Reveal. The first single, "To Be Loved" is currently streaming on her MySpace page. European fans, however, can hear it live, as JAPW will be spending the month stage hopping from Berlin to Scotland and London and through Amsterdam, Paris and Madrid before the tour stops in Warsaw. Check www.myspace.com/joanaspolicewoman for dates. She’s also nominated for Artist of the month on TheDeli.com (so go vote!) and featured in the Summer issue of Venus ‘Zine.
Yarn
(Alt. Country Song Winner, 7th Annual IMAs)
Roots music from the shadows of skyscrapers, Brooklyn six-piece Yarn may call the Big Apple home, but they nestle their sound in Nashville. The band is currently basking in the success of its debut album, which has reached the Top 15 on AMA radio airplay charts, and preparing for an East coast tour that runs May-October. Also on the agenda is the release of an as-yet-untitled album, which features guest performances by Edie Brickell, Toni Triska and Caitlin Cary (Whiskeytown). Read all about it at www.yarnmusic.net.
Miko Marks
(Country Song Winner, 7th Annual IMAs)
is a featured performer at CMA FEST in Nashville from June 5-9. Don’t miss her special acoustic performance. Get all the details at www.myspace.com/mikomarks
VOX POPULI WINNERS SPOTLIGHT:
Scott & Aimee
(Punk Song Vox Populi Winners, 7th Annual IMAs)
This IMA award-winning duo formed when
Aimee Allen supported Unwritten Law (fronted by Scott Russo) on tour. Individually, both have years of cred and acclaim (UL boasts five Top 20 Singles and Allen is featured on the Grammy nominated Hairspray soundtrack), so it’s only natural for the collaborative album, Sitting in a Tree, to garner the same. Currently, Allen can be heard every Sunday night, DJ-ing on famed Los Angeles radio station, indie 103.1, from midnight to 2am, so be sure to tune in or stream the show online. Meanwhile, Russo has returned to his Indie roots and is preparing for Unwritten Law’s new album and live DVD via Suburban Noize Records.
