The Independent Music Award Winners CD Compilation
"Now Hear This" featuring 38 songs by the Winners of the 2007 Independent Music placed at #1, #2 & #3 on eMusic’s “Power Charts” just one day after release.
The album charted at #1 in the Top Label chart; #2 in the Top Artist Chart; #3 in the Top Album chart and came in ahead of releases by Sinead O’Connor, Johnny Cash, Neko Case, Tom Waits and Van Morrison.
Now into its third week, the album holds strong in the top 10 on the Power Chart and #2 on the Top Artist Chart
The IMAs and Music Resource Group joined forces with eMusic, the world’s largest digital retailer of independent music, to offer 38 songs from top established and emerging indie musicians featured on the 2007 IMA Winner Compilation as free bonus tracks to all eMusic subscribers in addition to their monthly allotments
The promotion is indicative of the benefits offered by the IMAs – a unique international program that delivers real promotion & distribution opportunities to Winners & Finalists. This year’s Winners will be promoted to more than 11 million music fans & industry pros.
Both established and emerging talent including Speech, the GRAMMY® Award-winning artist of Arrested Development fame; Dan Bern, singer/songwriter & activist, God Forbid, the heavy metal band fresh from Ozzfest; and the Vacancies, the new addition to Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records are included on this IMA Winners compilation.
The winning artists and tracks were selected by a panel of celebrity and industry judges including Peter Gabriel, Wynonna, Ozzy Osbourne, Suzanne Vega, Paul Oakenfold, Buddy Guy, Afrika Bambataa, Bebel Gilberto, Patty Loveless, Beanie Man, Bill Frisell, McCoy Tyner, David Grisman, Howard Tate,Tim Pagnotta, Abby White (Music Editor of Performing Songwriter), Claire Armbruster (Artistic Director, Merlefest) ; Louis Meyers (Executive Director, Folk Alliance); Josh Rabinowitz (Sr. VP. Director of Music for Grey Worldwide), Paul Roger (Entertainment Rights Mgt. FintageHouse); Brett Kimberlin (Director of Justice Through Music); Melinda Newman (Billboard).
